Here I'll give you a glimpse of life on the road---behind the man behind the wheel of either an autorickshaw, or hotel car...

The autorickshaw: one wheel in front, two in back--very wide open and kind of rickety. We were told not to ride in these for long periods of time, because breathing too much of the street air was hazardous! (Three decent-sized people could squeeze in the back.) This is a glimpse off to the side, with the meter showing. That patch of road between vehicles there had sometimes been occupied by beggars riding in wheelchairs--every empty space on the road was fair game.

Looking off to the right--another autorickshaw buzzes by. This may have been along a small business or shopping district. These were all narrow roads. Now inside a hotel driver’s car: the driver hangs back from the wheel to give me a view for the camera--in what seemed like total mayhem all around us.

Here’s a view from the driver’s car, coming home from work: it was common to see scooters, another popular vehicle on the road. They were often occupied by two people--or more, if there were children. Another driver’s car view--coming home at night. Other drivers are converging around us, ignoring any kind of traffic lines. I was grateful that nobody could go very fast while doing this!

While on our way to Mysore, I noticed this interesting, brightly-colored truck in front of us before we left the Bangalore area. I remember that while taking a ride with other Accenture people, I spotted this bus-look-alike mobile school on wheels--just as colorful.

From the driver’s car view, I thought this was the quintessential shot of a typical ride home from work.
We had to navigate carefully around a bridge under construction, and it rained many days while I was there.

Meet the guys who drove us to and from Accenture, day-in and day-out; waiting for hours if need be, for us to come down to the basement to meet them. On occasion we’d wait on them--because they’d get caught in traffic trying to get there.
