Buildings throughout the city of Bangalore--both historical and new, and some under construction...

From the direction we took in our hotel car, off to the left is the Parliament, Karnataka's Legislative assembly. I was told that either this building or the High Court (right) was directly british-influenced.

On the opposite side of the street is the colorful Karnataka High Court, the supreme judicial body in Bangalore. This felt like a very dignified area.

Along the driver's route on our tour was the Bible Society. and I also thought that the curbs in the area were interesting; all through the Bangalore area they were steep and bi-colored, (grey and yellow) giving it a feeling of being government-dictated in terms of structure, or so I thought. This is the Bombay store on MG Road. I thought it looked stately with those tall glass windows...I didn't go inside, but instead strolled down MG Road enjoying the sandlewood necklace I'd just bought at the Cauvery down the street. ;)

Conveniently down the street from Le Meridien was the Ramana restaurant. it was housed inside this building which was made up of a few different shapes. here I'd gone with an Accenture person and his family. (You can see it's flanked by that beautiful tree.) Here's a bonus food photo--this was at another restuarant. I thought the table setting was impressive, and I never got tired of the authentic, delicious indian food.

From the other side of a barricaded sidewalk, I took a picture of this wing as part of a modern shopping mall--with scaffolding around it, so new that it was still under construction. The poles were actually made of tied tree "poles" surrounding this building of steel. This is a close-up of a man doing construction on another new structure--and you can clearly see the scaffolding made up of tree poles; this guy had no helmet, and I don't even think he wore shoes!
This is the same building where the construction worker was. Looking at the entire thing, it's motif struck me as a little "weird"; certainly not boring. Here is another building on my beloved Cunningham Road (that I considered home since that's where the hotel was), and I liked that this looked rather retro. It reminded me of old-fashioned radio grating. :)
