With very few exceptions, these were scenes on the streets of Bangalore that I had taken while on foot.

This was part of the sidewalk right outside of the Accenture office, Bannerghatta Road. A lot of construction going on, and this was no exception.

Frequently I'd walk down Cunningham Road just for the adventure, and here I saw a bit of the traditional blending with the new: a woman carrying a basket load on her head in front of a modern commercial building. Nearly all the women I'd seen wore indian dress--only the men wore openly western-style clothing.

All the cars were fairly small, even the midsized ones; none of them were very big. Cunningham Road was a very busy street with tall buildings and modern and trendy small shops--including Cafe Coffee day, I guess the indian version of Starbucks...?

Further still down Cunningham Road: my favorite grocery store. It had Himalaya stuff and peanut butter--the indian version tasted "darker" than what I'm accustomed to. here they had only small fans to keep a breeze blowing through in the August heat.

Around the corner from the hotel on one of the nicer streets; a shop advertises that it's either an internet cafe or just a place where you can plug in for tech smarts. Same street--a Lassi bar. A very nice guy served me at this place with a real glass as I chatted with him. As we tried to communicate, I watched as he discovered why it is that we could be speaking words we both understand, yet potentially be misinterpreted because of our culture differences. The banana lassi I had was delicious.

I couldn't believe it. there it was, food of heaven, or so that's my take on it. Was this actually a Cadbury chocolate shop? It must have been closed--because I hadn't gone in. Crazy me. Elsewhere in Bangalore, a white cow became pesky to this vendor who had just finished shooing her away. Since she lives on the street, she was snitching around--and looking rather thin.
I was on my way to Commercial street, with vendors everywhere as well as the traffic--here comes a cow; I was hoping for a chance meeting!

Here's that cow, up close and personal. She was travelling along the road away from the commercial district, pretty much being ignored--except by me. The kid in me was thrilled.

Here I was facing one of those stands. There was hardly a sidewalk without vendor's wares spilling into it--this had been a very bright and sunny day.

Along a busy area I spotted this street vendor with fruit on his bike, stopping to sell. They were all kind enough to go into candid mode for this shot...I had seen another man selling fruit in a similar way along an alley way--equipped with a machete; one swipe and I had a real fruit drink with a straw!

This shot was taken of a side street--one of the many--along Commercial street. All of this was like eye-candy to me, and very tempting to go check out. So much clothing displayed out in the open seemed pretty common. Another side street of eye-candy! All the colors caught my attention. Most times I was only just looking...

A shopper's paradise! I was into the skirts, and noticing how many bikes had been lining up along the curb. MG Road--these two men carried the makings of popcorn on their heads. I thought it was interesting seeing them carry such a load this way--it always looks so old world to me...probabaly a tried and true way to not hurt your back.

Planet M music store along Brgade Road reminded me of the cool music stores you'd find in New York City. Very geeky and every bit as hip. I got a Ravi Shankar CD--and now everytime I listen to it, it takes me back to Bangalore. As far as the vehicles go, I was touched by some of the messages displayed right on them, as on this autorickshaw. The pollution in Bangalore is really an issue. They know it, but that's life.

Here was a police sign I spotted from the window of our hotel car--a reminder to be careful with sort of a witty message. I was very glad to let others do all the driving...it was chaotic, but we in the U.S. certainly have our own brand of that too. ...Another one of those signs along the same route.

Waiting outside of a new mall called the Forum, autorickshaws are lined up along the sidewalk. The drivers are a little on the persuasive side. This was one of my first days in town, and I was following my fellow Americans from Accenture down a main street--which could have been MG Road. Shortly after this shot was taken, a street vendor sold me a nice map of India for 400 rupees.
I wanted to add another shot of the view down Cunningham Road...it really had become a kind of comfort zone because of Le Meridien just up the way. I enjoyed it's tree-lined gates. Wherever I went, I navigated myself by it.
