India is a place where there is a lot of affordable luxury--I bought some clothes, and with silk rugs I did window-shopping. :)

I had gone into certain rug stores, at times right off of
Cunningham Road, where our hotel Le Meridien was located.
In a store like this, they’d serve me hot tea as they try to
shmooze me to buy. The tea was good, but I’m no
pushover. ;)
Another rug display--stylized here with luxurious pillows as well. Even Le Meridien had a small store within it, where the handwoven rug details were amazingly ornate and beautiful.

In one store they had this smaller replica of a rug--it’s made up of jeweled embroidery, every bit as ornate and detailed as an original. The commercial district: this guy was in one of the many little shops busily customizing a garment--I knew of one Accenture employee who’d spent a lot of her time planning for fittings, and would go many times to places where she was due to pick them up.

This is the home of Himalaya--in my opinion, one of the more awesome natural herbal healthcare places around.
It’s a little store, but it’s packed with goodies of everything from A to Z, including stuff for the family pet.

The owner’s name is Rani (third from left), and she’d be busy travelling from the warehouse to the store with boxes of vitamins and other things that I’d ordered--so much so that this was the reason that I needed to buy another suitcase. :) She also had a doctor onsite--Kavitha (far right) who was there to explain the benefits!

This is the Cauvery, a very well-known government-run store on MG Road. (The "MG" is short for Mahatma Gandhi.) the road looks as wide as it seemed. If you are an american in Bangalore, visit this store--you won't go wrong. You can find anything there for yourself and for your loved ones back home.

The Cauvery was great for inexpensive costume jewelry--my obsession. I love indian earrings for their ornateness. They also had sandlewood necklaces--sandlewood being very prized over there, and smelling great--for a good, fixed price.

I bought one salwar kameez--albeit off the rack, I’ll admit! The material is a bit scratchy--I’d have to get used to it.

The sash was fun...here I’m trying to fling the thing over my shoulder in the most natural way possible. Now this is my favorite shirt--so soft and playful--it’s nice and long, great with jeans--speaking of which, I have a pair not pictured here but they’ve got a lot of nice embroidery down
the sides of each leg.:)
